Picture
The late T John Vaughan from UK, who died in 2020, was UK's No1 Performance Recorded breeder. The following is an excerpt from an email written by John in February 2019.
  • The UK Number One performance recorded Texel sire 2018
  • Highest-ever indexed lamb with an estimated breeding value (EBV) of 631
  • EBV was due in part this phenomenal eye muscle depth of 42mm, which has only been surpassed by four other Texel sires
  • Tremendous length of spine and width of loin would surely carry more weight of high-priced meat than any other Texel yet measured.
  • Research by the University of Nottingham indicated a strong link between shorter necks and broader heads with incidence of texel throat, laryngeal chondritis.he was
  • In 2019, No 1 UK sire
  • Sired by Fimber Yeti, who was No 1 indexed sire in 2018 with highest-ever gigot score of 12.35
  • Apex's dam - granddaughter to the two most influential sires in UK Performance Recording in past 10 years.

  • All Highland 2 tooths ewes in 2023 are great granddaughters of Vorn Yardstick and granddaughters of Highcraigs Apex. At this stage, Highland 1/22, of of Vorn Aberystwyth will be used as the sire.
